Get weekly surf forecast for selected surf spots onto your WordPress blog with a widget. Wordpress Tutorial

Noted That:

  • To install correctly this unofficial-magicseaweed-surf-forecast.zip .
  • Fisrt Download the unofficial-magicseaweed-surf-forecast.zip to your computer
  • Extract/Open unofficial-magicseaweed-surf-forecast.zip to Your Computer.
  • Then, Find readme.txt file inside unofficial-magicseaweed-surf-forecast.zip and Open readme.txt .
  • Now, Read the Requirements of this plugin. Which Wordpress Version and PHP Version are required to run this Plugin in Your Wordpress Site.
  • Then, Follow the Tips Below.

Start the Tips:

1. First Download " unofficial-magicseaweed-surf-forecast.zip " Plugin to your Local Computer. (Click Download)

2. Then, Login to your " yourdomain.com/wp-admin " Dashboard.

3. Then, Click on " Plugins " + " Add New " from left sidemenu of Dashboard.

4. Now, Click on "Upload Plugin" button.

5. Now, Browse " unofficial-magicseaweed-surf-forecast.zip "  Downloaded plugin from your computer, Where you downloaded unofficial-magicseaweed-surf-forecast.zip According to Step – 1 Above then, click on " Install Now"

6. Now, Click on " Active Plugin"

7. Then, See left sidemenu. " Unofficial Magicseaweed Surf Forecast " folder is added on left sidemenu. Now, Click on " Unofficial Magicseaweed Surf Forecast " folder.

   Noted that: If you do not see " Unofficial Magicseaweed Surf Forecast " folder on left sidemenu then, see at left sidemenu " Settings " or " Tools ".

8. Now you configure yourself oR Watch video tutorial below about  Unofficial Magicseaweed Surf Forecast Configurtions and Settings or How to work " Unofficial Magicseaweed Surf Forecast " in your WordPress site.

After Activated Plugin According to Step-6 then,

  1. Go to " Plugins " + " Installed Plugin " from Wordpress Admin Panel Leftside Menu.
  2. or Direct go to: https://yourdomain/wp-admin/plugins.php
  3. Then, Find " Unofficial Magicseaweed Surf Forecast " Activated Plugin from Plugin List.
  4. Then, Click on " Settings " from Plugin that is Unofficial Magicseaweed Surf Forecast
  5. Now, Edit/Add/Config the setting and Click on " Save Changes " button,

Guide
  1. Unzip the archive and put the magicseaweed-surf-report folder into /wp-content/plugins/ directory.
  2. Activate the plugin from the Plugins menu.
  3. Write to [email protected] for an API Key and Secret.
  4. Set you API Key and Secret in the admin plugins-> Surf Forecast.
  5. Put a check next to Use MagicSeaweed Data, indicating that you are OK with putting a powered-by MagicSeaweed
    logo at the top of the forecast data they are providing you with.
  6. Select your surf spot on http://www.MagicSeaweed.com and retrieve the surf spot ID.
    It will be the last argument in the url string once a location is selected.
    Example: 3402 in the url http://magicseaweed.com/Djeno-Point-Surf-Report/3402/
  7. Add a widget to your sidebar and input the spot ID.
  8. Select the forecast graphs you wish to display and save your widget.
  9. Enjoy the upcoming weeks surf!

Usage

Case 1: You have a lot of width to the sidebar in which you are placing the widget.
Suggested settings:
timeLabels: ‘6 hours’
barLabels: ‘yes’
arrows: ‘more’.


This will display the maximum amount, and most specific data available through the plugin display options. 

Case 2: You do not have a lot of width to the sidebar in which you are placing the widget.
Suggested settings:
timeLabels: ’24 hours’
barLabels: ‘no’
arrows: ‘less’.


This will display less data with the intention to make the forecast graphs more readable by uncluttering the sidebar.
