After upgrading to WordPress 3.1.x, many installations suffer broken permalinks for categories and tags. This hotfix repairs the problem. Wordpress Tutorial

Noted That:

  • To install correctly this wcs-custom-permalinks-hotfix.zip .
  • Fisrt Download the wcs-custom-permalinks-hotfix.zip to your computer
  • Extract/Open wcs-custom-permalinks-hotfix.zip to Your Computer.
  • Then, Find readme.txt file inside wcs-custom-permalinks-hotfix.zip and Open readme.txt .
  • Now, Read the Requirements of this plugin. Which Wordpress Version and PHP Version are required to run this Plugin in Your Wordpress Site.
  • Then, Follow the Tips Below.

Start the Tips:

1. First Download " wcs-custom-permalinks-hotfix.zip " Plugin to your Local Computer. (Click Download)

2. Then, Login to your " yourdomain.com/wp-admin " Dashboard.

3. Then, Click on " Plugins " + " Add New " from left sidemenu of Dashboard.

4. Now, Click on "Upload Plugin" button.

5. Now, Browse " wcs-custom-permalinks-hotfix.zip "  Downloaded plugin from your computer, Where you downloaded wcs-custom-permalinks-hotfix.zip According to Step – 1 Above then, click on " Install Now"

6. Now, Click on " Active Plugin"

7. Then, See left sidemenu. " WCS Custom Permalinks Hotfix " folder is added on left sidemenu. Now, Click on " WCS Custom Permalinks Hotfix " folder.

   Noted that: If you do not see " WCS Custom Permalinks Hotfix " folder on left sidemenu then, see at left sidemenu " Settings " or " Tools ".

8. Now you configure yourself oR Watch video tutorial below about  WCS Custom Permalinks Hotfix Configurtions and Settings or How to work " WCS Custom Permalinks Hotfix " in your WordPress site.

After Activated Plugin According to Step-6 then,

  1. Go to " Plugins " + " Installed Plugin " from Wordpress Admin Panel Leftside Menu.
  2. or Direct go to: https://yourdomain/wp-admin/plugins.php
  3. Then, Find " WCS Custom Permalinks Hotfix " Activated Plugin from Plugin List.
  4. Then, Click on " Settings " from Plugin that is WCS Custom Permalinks Hotfix
  5. Now, Edit/Add/Config the setting and Click on " Save Changes " button,

Guide

Plug-in Usage:

Install and activate the plug-in. No configuration is needed.

Standard WordPress installation procedure:

  1. Download the ZIP file to your local computer.
  2. Unzip the file’s contents.
  3. Login as an administrator to your WordPress website.
  4. Upload the wcs-custom-permalinks-hotfix directory to your /wp-content/plugins/ directory.
  5. Activate the plugin through the WordPress Dashboard-> Plugins menu.
  6. Visit your home page.
  7. Refresh your browser (F5).
  8. Verify that the menu/dropdown categories and tags are working.

Depending on your specific Web browser settings, you may need to:

  1. Clear your browser’s cache.
  2. Visit your home page.
  3. Refresh your browser (F5).
  4. And, then test your menus/dropdowns with categories and tags.

If you’re ALSO using a blog cache plug-in, add these steps:

  1. Clear your entire blog cache (with that plug-in’s admin panel).
  2. Clear your browser’s cache.
  3. Visit your home page.
  4. Refresh your browser twice (F5).
  5. Verify that the menu/dropdown categories and tags are working.

Additional Considerations:

  1. If your WordPress installation resides on a Concentric/XO Communications shared hosting platform, there is an additional issue with permalinks. In this case, visit our Plug-in Landing Page for specific instructions.
